The axe head is hand ground basalt and made in the traditional way. The rock would is
roughly chipped at first to form an approximate shape. It is then hand ground in a
steam against coarse river rock until smooth and this is done over a one week period.
The handle is Guava stem which is bound by seaweed string. The string is made by
rolling dried seaweed strands and it forms a very strong and hard wearing binding.
Finally the resin is prepared from a mixture of native bees wax, Bloodwood tree sap
and Xanthorrhoea(grass-tree) sap and is applied hot to bind the parts together
